So we were talking last week about how easy it is to lose sight of our health goals (and how helpful it would be to have a couple tattoos or landmarks to remind us!) and one reader joked that it’d be great if I called her in a couple weeks, while another agreed that she needed a big note on her desk to help keep her motivated – which got me thinking…
I had a teacher my senior year of high school who had us all write letters to ourselves about what was going on in our lives at that time and where we thought we’d be in five years; he collected all the letters and promised to mail them at random within the next few years. He said we’d be surprised at how happy we were when we got them and how fun it’d be to hear from our ‘old selves’ – and he was right! It was so cool to hear what Younger Jessi had to say (which was a lot! lol) – man, that girl liked to talk! I wonder what ever happened to her… ;)
So I know none of you probably feel like spilling out your hearts or writing down your lifelong dreams in this blog post, but what I was thinking we could do is collect mini-notes to ourselves to encourage healthy living and help keep us motivated!
Here’s how it works:
Fill out the form below with a note of encouragement (nothing negative!) – just like you would send to a friend – and pick when you’d like me to email you your message (there’s a couple options, but the ‘surprise me!’ one is the most fun!). Feel free to make it as long as you want and include random stuff (like: ‘By the way, I’m going shopping today so you’re about to spend half your pay check on clothes – when you read this in the future, let me know if you still think that was a good idea!’). Address the note, ‘Dear [your name]’, sign it ‘Me’ and then forget about it. In one to six months you’ll get your email out of the blue! (And don’t worry: your address won’t be used for any other mailings!)
