I just received the following email and wanted to share with you guys:
This is a reminder to those wishing to attend Duke University’s 5-day summer research workshop on August 12-16 to register early. We are holding only one workshop in 2013, so spaces will be more limited than in past years. This is especially true for those wishing to have individual mentorship sessions with our faculty (see below).
Each workshop compresses material presented in our 12-mo post-doctoral fellowship into 5 days, and is the only place in the world where specific training on how to conduct research on religion, spirituality & health can be obtained from researchers active in the field for over 25 years. We recommend these courses for researchers early in their career and for seasoned researchers wishing to shift their work into spirituality & health, as well as for undergraduate and graduate students or others considering research in this area. Persons more generally interested in spirituality and health will also find this workshop useful, as we cover a lot of material on this subject applicable to laypersons. This is the 10th year the workshop is being offered, with nearly 600 attendees over the years.
Because of the intense nature of this training, spaces in the workshop are limited as usual. We can provide individual mentorship to only about 20-25 participants. Every workshop held thus far has been oversubscribed, so it is important to register early.
This workshop has been previously approved for 32.5 continuing medical education credits, and while it currently provides no CME or CEU, many attendees have gotten their certifying bodies to approve the course for CME/CEU based on our syllabus and prior approval. The Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) has indicated that this educational event provides 30.5 hours of continuing education that can be applied to the educational hours required by the Board of Chaplaincy Certification, Inc.
We are offering partial tuition SCHOLARSHIPS ($600) for those with serious financial hardships and potential for conducting research in this area. Tuition discounts are also available for APC members and for members of other professional societies (applicable to those not applying for a scholarship).

Such an exciting opportunity!! If you want to learn more, visit the workshop’s website! (Scholarship guidelines can be found here).

I want to! I’m not sure where I’ll be living come August, but I should have a better idea by May so if it’s practical I’m going to apply for a scholarship then :)

This sounds so amazing! :) I’m like you, I am not sure where I will be living in August!! I hope after my trip to Washington, Kevin and I will be closer to being in the same time zone. ;) ;)

We’ll have to touch base as it gets closer! :)

This sounds pretty sweet! Also, do you live in NC??? I might be down there in a few weeks, randomly! :)

Right now I’m living in Florida (I’m always traveling around somewhere!) but my brother goes to USC and my parents are in Columbia, SC so I visit there a lot – if I’m ever in SC when you’re in NC maybe we can figure something out! :)
